We were contacted by a client who wanted to change the culture of their organization in two primary countries, Germany and the United States. The culture had become an ‘order taking function’, where other departments would contact them to make purchases and they would do precisely what was asked.
The challenge was, as the Purchasing Department (which was shifting to Strategic Sourcing), there was nothing Strategic about their role or their influence on the organization.
Approach: We co-created a program that focused on Courageous Leadership and challenged individuals to consider how they were approaching their interactions. Unlike a lot of change initiatives, where you are told exactly what to do, we used this as an invitation into a process where employees were able to come up with their own solutions to the challenges faced. They actively created a current story and the future story of their organization and began creating a roadmap to achieve these results. We customized posters that considered current state - future state descriptions and asked them to evaluate where they were currently and where they would like to be, next we co-created an activation process in the form of a roadmap to achieve their objectives.
